Adelaide Tramway Network Timeline Map: 140 Years of Trams (1878–2018)
The Adelaide Tramway Network Timeline Map is now available to view online.
We are very pleased to present this new exhibit showing, in chronological order, the opening and closing of every tram line in metropolitan Adelaide. It follows Adelaide's first horse-drawn tram to Kensington in 1878 right through to the latest network extensions to the Botanic Gardens and the Festival Plaza in 2018.
We are proud to present this work for your viewing pleasure, and to offer a new way of understanding and connecting with South Australian history. The exhibit is also available to view on-site at the museum in our northern shed.
This work was produced by volunteer Bailey Underwood with research assistance from Tom Wilson.
